Telephone (Past to the Present)

The telephone was made by Alexander Graham Bell a Scottish emigrant. Alexander was inspired to make the telephone in 1876, while working at a school for the deaf. Alexander made the telephone to help communicate with people from a long distance.

The first phone was connected by a wire and it transmitted sound through a wire in the air.

Timeline 
  • May 10,  1876- The first telephones were patented by Alexander Graham Bell
  • 1890-1930- Candlestick was a two part phone one part was the mouth piece and the other piece is the receiver/ ear piece
  • 1960-1970- Rotary became popular for rotating the dial and then release
  • 1963- The Push Button or Touch Tone became popular form AT&T and the Blue Box to help make long distance calls
  • 1960's- Answering Machine helped people leave a message if a person wasn't available
  • 1980- Portable phone helped people disconnect from the base and you could talk on the phone from anywhere in the house.
  • 1984- Motorola came out with the DynaTAC the first commercially available mobile phone
  • Nokia 5110 had a long battery life
  • Caller ID helped callers know who was calling
  • 1996- Motorola StarTAC the first successful flip phone
  • 2003- Sanyo SCP 5300 was one of the first phones to have a camera
  • 2009- Palm Treo screen at the top and keypad at the bottom
  • Motorola RAZR touchscreen smart phones
  • 2007- Blackberry advanced email capabilities
  • 2007- IPhone and Android touchscreen smartphones
  • 2007- the first Android phone was the HTC Dream

This invention has now become an innovation because it's still used today and it's improved.
